Modern society calls it “Easter.”

The one thing I find that people most often stumble over is the fact that Jesus actually did rise from the dead.

Just a few Years ago I was gravely disappointed with Three of our community’s prominent Churches who along w/ a community university sponsored a Pseudo- Intellect who presented to our community a series of lectures attempting to explain “Why the Bodily resurrection of Jesus isn’t   Necessary to believe in.

Consider This:

Thomas Arnold (Professor and world-renowned historian)  “I can tell you that Christ’s resurrection from the dead is the “best-attested fact in human history”.

C.S. Lewis: {about the Resurrection of Jesus} ….something perfectly  new in the history of the Universe happened….. Christ defeated death.

Tim Keller: 21st C. author and pastor in  Manhattan, NY) “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”

The Apostle Paul Said:  “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins..

The Point is Simple:

Either The Resurrection we celebrate TODAY is REAL and ACTUAL or it is NOT….

Jesus’ Resurrection did happen, it isn’t a myth. It isn’t merely a nice idea that Christians have, Rather, it is something which occurred in history.

The truth is everyone in the world is affected by the resurrection of Jesus.

Nobody can live unchanged by this great historically accurate event!

Resurrection Evidence reveals that….

* The New Testament story is not a legend:  New Testament documents were written within two generations of the events by eyewitnesses or their contemporaries. The New Testament story-line is corroborated by non-Christian writers.

* The New Testament story is not an embellishment: New Testament writers were meticulously accurate as the well over 140 historically details demonstrate.

* The New Testament writers were not deceived: The New Testament writers were not wrong about what they saw! If all their other historical details has proven to be Accurate, why do you think they would be deceived about the resurrection?

There will always be people who say that Jesus did not really rise from the dead!

Don’t be discouraged by doubters who deny the resurrection.

Instead, Be filled with hope because one day you will see the living proof when Jesus Christ returns.

What does the resurrection mean to every one who by Faith accepts it?

I can have confidence that the apostles early teaching was true.

I know I am forgiven for my sins.

Finally, Because of the Resurrection I know that  God is a Living Sovereign. The Resurrection tells the world that the kingdom of God is ruled by a living sovereign.

* The founder of Buddhism is dead and his bones lie dormant in the earth.

*The founder of Islam is dead and his bones lie dormant in the earth.

But the founder of Christianity Jesus —made a number of appearances after His death over a 40 day Period.

For Instance:

Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, the women that came to Jesus tomb (Mary the Mother of James, Salome, and Joanna),

He appeared to two disciples on the Emmaus road.

He also appeared to the remainder of the Twelve Disciples with Thomas absent.  Later he appeared to them with Thomas present.

There was also an appearance to seven disciples on the Sea of Galilee.

On another occasion Jesus appeared to over five hundred people at the same time.

There is also an appearance to James.

Finally Jesus appeared to Saul of Tarsus – the man who became the Apostle Paul.

Jesus is Not DEAD IN THE GRAVE

HE IS RISEN.  Have you received HIM today?  I would love to help. Please contact me.

It is very sad that Some, Media, Politicians and Pastors CONTINUE TO make a critical mistake in assuming that God and Allah are the Same, Actually they are not!

To gain a proper understanding of this question, ask it like this, “Do Christians and Muslims both have a correct understanding of who God is?” The answer is definitely no.

Because of crucial differences between the Christian and Muslim concepts of God, the two faiths and view of God cannot both be true. The biblical God alone addresses and solves the problem of sin by giving His Son.

Please don’t be deceived. It does Matter what you believe and Teach about this issue.

While the Muslim and Christian views of God have some similarities.  They Most Certainly do not Worship the same God.  Because of crucial differences between the Christian and Muslim concepts of God, the two faiths cannot both be true.

In addition, to how Jesus, God in the Flesh, answers Man’s Sin Problem,  A vital difference between the Islamic and Christian views of God is the biblical concept of the Trinity. (This doctrine also is what distinguishes Christianity from all other World Religions and Cultic groups likes Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, New Ageism and etc).

In the Bible, God has revealed Himself as one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

While each Person of the Trinity is fully God, God is not three gods but three in one. The Trinity is essential to the Christian faith. Without the Trinity, there would be no incarnation of God’s Son in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus Christ, there would be no salvation from sin. Without salvation, sin would condemn all to an eternal hell.

Another very Critical component of this the Question, “Is God and allah the same” is seen when one considers the Mission of God. God’s Mission is stated as follows………. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:16-18)

The god of Islam did not have such a mission.

Dr. Douglas Groothuis, Ph.D.  Professor at Denver Theological Seminary, writes, “Islam claims to be a fulfillment of Christianity, yet it denies many essential Christian teachings.”

A Christian can never retreat from the clear doctrinal position that Jesus is GOD, yet Muhammad the prophet of allah, rejected the idea that Jesus, a human being, could in any sense be God.”

When one thinks critically and logically it becomes clear, the god of Islam and the God of Christianity cannot be same, because God can not possess contradictory attributes.

The New Testament writer, Jude says it plainly, “3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about[b] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

I don’t apologize for my Principled stance that First World nations have a right to preserve our own unique identity, character and values.

President Obama said in refereeing to the recent Paris Attacks that the event “was an attack on all of humanity and the universal values that we share.”

Many people consider these words to be “safe phrases” or expected political speak.

However, the selection of his words reveals a deep misunderstanding. (One I am afraid many Christians mistakenly hold)

At issue is that these words reveal that our President doesn’t understand that Islam, Radical or Moderate, DOES NOT SHARE THE VALUES that the Western World, our world, holds dear.

Need convincing…….Consider a soccer game between Turkey and Greece in Istanbul.  During this game the Turks booed during the moment of silence for the Paris dead and chanted “Allahu Akbar.” Where in the Western World have people booed a moment of silence for those suffering or dead?

Need convincing…..Among 1.6 billion Muslims, hundreds of millions do not share the values regarding women’s rights, abortion, homosexuality, free speech, or the equality of all religious faiths.

The default position usually taken by those who disagree with me on this matter is, “Oh, those are just the Fanatics of ISIS”.

REALLY?

Ask yourself this question, does Saudi Arabia share Obama’s universal values regarding sexual freedom and the equality of Christianity, Judaism and Islam?

Can you point to ONE Muslim Country that allows for anything like the First Amendment? How does the Sunni or Shiite sect of Islam look upon the Freedom of Speech, Religion, and a Free Press?

The values of secular France and the values of Americans are not shared by the Islamic world, Moderate or Radical. Their False Prophet, False Book and False god won’t permit it.

I’m open to a rebuttal from a person of the Islamic Faith, who would tell me different and say it in any Middle Eastern Country except Israel.

Mr. President you are Right, Partly….. The Paris Attack was an attack on all of humanity….….BUT NO those values ARE NOT SHARED by the Muslim World.

I don’t see the “REFUGEE” debate as an argument about whether Americans will be open and welcoming Rather, I frame this discussion from the vantage point that the world is reawakening long suppressed truths.

Truths such as race and religion matter. To some they are life-and-death matters.

The point missed is that not all creeds, cultures and tribes are equally or easily assimilated into a Western nation.

I don’t apologize for my Principled stance that First World nations have a right to preserve our own unique identity, character and values.

I believe the time may be at hand for a moratorium on all immigration and a rewriting of the immigration laws that reflect the understanding that our own unique identity, character and values have a right to be preserved as we welcome new people groups into America. At one time the immigration laws of America did that exactly.

The Killing of ISIS-Does Jesus allow it? a.k.a- What about Turning the other cheek and praying for your enemies ?

There is a lot of TENSION when it comes to a Christian’s DESIRE to see EVIL defeated and a Christian’s desire to see the Lost come to saving faith in Jesus.

With regard to the organization ISIS and the like, I see these organizations much like I see the Nazis, as ones who oppress, enslave, and kill the most vulnerable and “least among us.”

A friend forwarded me a BLOG in which its author asks, “If you’re a Christian, how do you construct a working theology regarding the use of violence to alleviate suffering?”

This writer went on to pen, “We are, after all, believers in the Divine but made of flawed flesh and bone. We want what is reasonable. We want what is rational. We want what is humanly justifiable. We want life for life. But does Jesus allow that?”

Unfortunately the writer raised more questions than he answered.

So, I’ll answer his question, “Does Jesus allow it”?

Addressing the TENSION of wanting ISIS DEAD and honoring Jesus with our actions and attitudes

First, when constructing a theology to address the evil of ISIS scripture must be taken in context and properly interpreted.

(And NO this isn’t, as one writer alluded to, some fancy footwork around lots of stuff in the Bible nor is it acrobatic theological gymnastics to make the scripture fit our fancy.)

Here are a few examples of how important it is to understand the context of a scripture and to authentically interpret scripture.

Consider:

Many people make the mistake of reading what the Bible says in Exodus 20:13, “You shall not kill,” as some command that Christians should oppose war. However, this scripture is not making a case against “JUST WAR.” It does NOT reference killing that occurs in war. It is an error to say that God never supports a war, especially against systems and organizations that enslave and torture the weakest and least among us.

Another example of scripture being taken out of CONTEXT and being wrongly interpreted stems from misapplication of the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is often not properly understood in addressing our response to oppressors.

The proper CONTEXT of the Sermon on the Mount should be understood as one where Jesus actually serves to elevate the importance of following Israel’s moral law beyond the letter to the spirit of the law. Much of the material therein complements the nature of His coming characterized by mercy, sacrificial love, and long suffering toward sinners while at the same time affirming the “last is first” principle upon which the kingdom of God is based.

For instance, we are told to go the extra mile for someone who abuses us and to pray for enemies instead of resisting them.

All of this can be generally summarized by saying we need to be pure inside and out and should be as accommodating as possible for the sake of a lost world.

This is not referencing the Christian’s association with an Evil Organization such at ISIS or Radical Islam.

Specifically, I have seen Matthew 5:38 “turn the other cheek,” used inappropriately and incorrectly.

This does NOT imply pacifism, nor does it mean we place ourselves or others in mortal danger.

In Matthew 5:38, turning the other cheek refers to personal retaliation not criminal offenses or acts of military aggression.

Clearly, in proper context, Jesus did not mean to negate all God’s laws and injunctions protecting us against violent crime or invading armies.

Rather, Jesus is speaking here of the principle of non-retaliation to affronts against our own dignity, as well as lawsuits to gain one’s personal assets , infringements on one’s liberty, and violations of property rights. He was calling for a full surrender of all personal rights.

Turning the other cheek means not to return insult for insult in retaliation, which is what most people expect and how worldly people act. Responding to hatred with love just might grab someone’s attention and afford us a chance to share the gospel.

When we respond in a manner that is unnatural, it displays the supernatural power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Jesus was the perfect example because He was silent before His accusers and did not call down revenge from heaven on those who crucified Him.

AGAIN, in proper context, turning the other cheek refers to personal retaliation, not criminal offenses or acts of military aggression.

Conclusion:

Romans 12:9 commands us to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. In doing so we must take a stand against what is evil in this world and pursue righteousness (2 Timothy 2:22).

It is clear that zeal for God’s righteousness consumed Jesus, and He was not afraid to stand up against those who opposed and dishonored His Father (John 2:15-17, see also Numbers 25:11).

What we can learn from properly interpreting scripture is that we are only to wage war when it is the will of God and not at our own discretion (John 18:11, Numbers 14:41-45).

It is God’s choice as to how and when He brings judgment of sin upon this world and its inhabitants to display His holiness. We are simply called to follow Him (Matthew 16:24-25).

All of this may sound contradictory to the teachings of Jesus, God Himself, in which He instructs us to “love your neighbor as yourself” and to “turn the other cheek” as well as to the command, “you shall not murder.”

But these concepts must be examined from an eternal perspective.

Until the end of the FINAL War, when the murderer of man, Satan, is destroyed by Jesus and His servants’ blood is finally avenged, we are called to fight the good fight and keep the faith.

Many of you who regularly follow my writings know I have a lot of respect for Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer was executed once it was discovered that Dietrich, a 33 year Bible Scholar, Pastor, Professor and Intellect, had been a leader in a group to assassinate Hitler.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer came to realize that this evil needed to be stopped and he joined a group of men that sought to assassinate Hitler.

So for me, there is no dilemma over what to do when faced with a collective evil such as ISIS, Al Qaeda and the like;

We are well within scriptural principle to be instruments of God in eliminating them.

Obviously, our heart would be to see such men come to repentance and acceptance of Jesus, but for now they are UNDER the influence of Satan, who we know is the Father of all Lies.

We all have heard that there are hundreds of thousands, Millions even, of peaceful “moderate” Muslims who are every bit disgusted by ISIS and the numerous groups of cowards and murderers operating in the name of Islam.

I have an IMPORTANT WORD FOR THEM…

I’ve been reading a lot lately about the Pastor, Martyr, and Spy Dietrich Bonhoeffer. (You should get familiar with his life by reading Eric Metaxas book on Bonhoeffer).

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed by Hitler once it was discovered that Dietrich a 33 year Bible Scholar, Pastor, Professor and Intellect had been a leader in a group to killed Hitler.

Wait for it………………………….

Martin Niemoller, another familiar name, was Bonhoeffer’s friend and colleague in Germany’s Underground, “Confessing Church” and was even part of its leadership with Bonhoeffer.

Wait for it………..

Niemoller, saw what was happening, but when he finally saw Hitler for all his evil it was too late.

Here it is………….

Martin Neimoller then penned his Famous Statement regarding Hitler’s rise to power:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me— and there was no one left to speak for me.

Here’s the Point:

I keep hearing about the “Moderate” Peaceful Muslims. I’ve asked numerous times, where is the outcry, Why aren’t the Peaceful Muslim’s defending “Their” Faith? Why they aren’t in the streets protesting against their religion is being hijacked?

Even though Islam is a false religion, founded on a false Prophet, written about in a false book, ONE would THINK that personal integrity and honesty from the “peaceable Muslim” adherents would compel them to fight against the hijacking of their religion, howbeit false the religion actually is.

The Truth is…..Either these “peaceful Moderates” are Men and Women who have NO Courage and are Cowards or they are Men and Women who believe the Muslims that are killing and beheading are INDEED fulfilling the commands of their prophet.

If ALL these Moderate Muslims need is courage…………They better get it quick.

The words of Martin Neimoller are in the hallways of History, waiting to ring true once again…….

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist, Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me— and there was no one left to speak for me.

The one thing that all Peaceful people should be able to agree on is simple…..these ISIS members and others like them MUST BE KILLED completely. There is NO place TODAY in any religious faith for such evil men.

Will we hear from the Moderates?

The President of the United States bears MUCH Responsibility.

If President Obama doesn’t want to LEAD, he should at least GET OUT OF THE WAY. His Lackadaisical attitude and lack of initiative has created an environment in which the Thugs and Cowards of this world act without fear of reprisal from the Most Powerful Nation in the world.

President Obama you are weak and you are an embarrassment! For whatever reason you have demonstrated you don’t have the courage or principled Core values to lead the greatest nation in World.

TWENTY ONE Egyptian Coptic Christians were marched, by masked Islamic State militants, to a sandy Beach and forced down to their knees to have their heads cut off.

I am ashamed of our President’s lack of Leadership. Words of condemnation mean nothing, ACTION speaks volumes.

Am I TO BELIEVE  that the Greatest, Most Powerful nation on the face of this planet is unable to locate and KILL 40,000 of the most evil people on the face of this earth?

Am I TO BELIEVE that in a few days, maybe weeks, the Greatest, Most Powerful nation on the face of this planet could not eradicate this world of such vile evil men?

Oh, How I wish, we had someone at the “helm” who had courage, love for freedom and was a principled Godly Man.

President Obama you will be held accountable!  You sought the Presidency, you were given the honor that few will ever realize and by your lack of leadership and vision you are causing the deaths of 1000s that could have been eliminated.

I tell you THIS, these 21 Tortured Christian martyrs are Seeing Jesus today and those who killed them will live forever in a Real and Eternal place called HELL. They will join Mohammad and his prophets and forever feel the torment of fire and gnashing of teeth. I tell you, the ONE, TRUE God will NOT be Mocked, a Storm is Coming.

Mr. President, You have wasted your opportunity. Your day of reckoning will come from the ONE who WILL Judge all men. “…..And to everyone to whom much has been given, much shall be required from him; and to whom [men] have committed much, they will ask from him the more.”   Luke 12

William Barclay and other commentary writers refer to the passage in Luke 2, regarding Jesus, as a boy, in the Temple as “Supremely Important!

Why is the New Testament story about Jesus, at age 12, in the Temple so vitally important?

The answer lies in What the Passage is Teaching us About the Person and Mission of Jesus.

This passage is supremely important because it answers the Vital Question:

Who is JESUS?  This passage is an occasion for Jesus to teach us about HIS Relationship with GOD….

Jesus is God, the Second Person of the TRINITY.

Unfortunately, there is so much inaccurate understanding and false teaching about the Person and Mission of Jesus by cults, world religions, some politicians, many talk show hosts, numerous religious leaders and too many pastors in our own community.

The “Hypostatic Union” is the term Christians use to explain What Makes Christianity different from all other religions (Islam, Hinduism, etc.) and cults (Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, New Ageism, etc.) that exist today.

It is hard to discuss this event in the LIFE OF JESUS as reported in Luke 2:41-49 without referencing the theological term “the hypostatic union.”

The hypostatic union is the term used to describe how God the Son, Jesus Christ, took on a human nature, yet remained fully God at the same time.

The doctrine of the hypostatic union is an attempt to explain how Jesus could be both God and man at the same time. It is ultimately, though, a doctrine we are incapable of fully understanding given it is impossible for humans to fully understand how God works.

What makes Christianity different from cults like Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc., and world religions like Islam, Hinduism, etc.?

It is the Teaching that Jesus has always existed (John 8:58,10:30).

Jesus is God’s Son in that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). But that does not mean Jesus did not exist before He was conceived.

Only Christianity Teaches the Truth about Jesus; Jesus and God are One!

This is very important for Christians to understand, since the term, “Hypostatic Union” speaks to how Jesus Limited HIMSELF of certain facets of DIVINE ADVANTAGE in order that HE might have a legitimate experience of temptation and REAL life HUMAN struggles.

You may not understand ‘The Hypostatic Union” but you can UNDERSTAND this….according to the Scripture, on earth JESUS was:

100 % God

100% Human

100 % of the Time.

Don’t be misled; the divine nature of Jesus is not diminished by His human nature, and His human nature does not lose identity because of His divine nature.

Jesus has always been God; Jesus became a human being in order to identify with us in our struggles

(For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human  in every way,  in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins  of the people. Hebrews 2:17 NIV)

and to Die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins

(In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to  his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing  by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8 NIV).

It does matter what you believe about Jesus!  The Luke 2:41-49 passage is important because it is teaching the TRUTH about JESUS, which is IMPORTANT TO OUR SALVATION.

Because Jesus is FULLY GOD and FULLY HUMAN….HE is the Only Way to the FATHER.

The Bible says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”.  John 1:12

Jesus is both fully human and fully divine, that there is no mixture or dilution of either nature, and that He is one united Person, forever.

Please, let’s not back up on Jesus.  Instead, let us commit to the biblical truth about JESUS; eternity weighs in the balance.

SOME Media, politicians and pastors make a critical mistake in assuming that God and Allah are the Same, Actually they are not! In a September, 2014 interview on 60 Minutes President Obama referred to Muslims as people “who worship a different god.” Even he knows the difference.

To gain a proper understanding of this question, ask it like this, “Do Christians and Muslims both have a correct understanding of who God is?” The answer is definitely no.

I am very disappointed, yes, even angry, that President Obama tours around the world, on my “dime”, apologizing for America and bowing to dictators and yet remains silent as Christian churches are burned and Christ followers persecuted all over the Middle East.

Many Christians and some very concerned non-Christians have been extremely burdened by the sentence of death by hanging that thirty-four year old Iranian Christ follower and pastor, Youcef Nadarkhani, has received from the Iranian highest court.

What is even more burdensome to me is that we have a president who doesn’t have the courage to avow the courage of this Christian.

Here we have a portrait of great courage in Youcef Nadardhani  and a portrait of great  weakness in the president of the strongest nation on planet earth.  How shameful!

Youcef Nadarkhani was arrested in October 2009 on charges of apostasy for converting from Islam to Christianity.  He was found guilty of apostasy and sentenced to death by hanging.

An Iranian lower court gave him three chances to recant his faith in Jesus Christ; he refused to deny his faith in Jesus!  Based upon his refusal to recant the Iranian highest court upheld the lower court’s ruling of guilty and the sentence of death by hanging.

Does this sound like a peaceful, kind and tolerant religion that only seeks to live alongside Christians and Jews?  That is what our President tells us.

Moreover, keep in mind, the Iranian treatment of Nadarkhani also coincides with Sharia law which some American judges have refused to dismiss as potentially having standing in our courts.

This case and the deafening silence by millions of Muslims affirm that Islam is a false religion, worshipping a false god, written about by a false prophet.

Many claim that Christianity is the most intolerant religion in the world because we believe that only those who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior will be saved.  Keep in mind it is not Christianity that sends people to court and puts them under the death penalty for turning away from Christian faith.

Islam is the intolerant and hateful faith because it does take legal action, including imprisonment, fines, property confiscation, and even death against those that turn away from Islam.

While it is true that a growing number of nations, members of Congress, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been calling for Nadarkhani’s release, I want to SHOUT, “Where is our President?”

I am very disappointed, yes, even angry, that President Obama tours around the world, on my “dime”, apologizing for America and bowing to dictators and yet remains silent as Christian churches are burned and Christ followers persecuted all over the Middle East.

Call me crazy, but given how Muslims are given more accommodations in America, along with the support that Sharia law receives, not to mention the support Muslims continually receive from the Obama administration, PLUS the speed at which Christians are losing rights, it may only be a few more years down the road that we will see cases like Nadarkhani’s here in our own country.

How far the office of President has regressed? More than ever we need a LEADER with Courage.

I’ve always said when I find a Mormon who tells the truth about these things I will share it.

***********************************

I’ve been in dialogue and discussion with Imam Syed Soharwardy for many months.  We have had numerous phone and email conversations.  (We hope to meet in person soon.)

One thing about Imam Soharwardy that I find helpful to our dialogue and discussion is his honesty when it comes to discussing Christian and Islamic theology.

Syed says he loves Jesus, honors Jesus and respects Jesus; but he is quick to point out that Islam does Not believe that Jesus and God are the same. Thus, Muslims are NOT Christians; they are Muslims.

Jesus and God being ONE is a Christian belief that is clearly taught in the Bible and a doctrine that Christians have been killed and tortured for over the centuries, right up to today.

As Syed and I have discussed theology it is refreshing that he has the integrity to be honest regarding Islam’s beliefs.

I have had very similar discussions with Mormons over the years.  Very recently I met with two Mormon leaders from our community.

They wanted to “discuss” my view that Mormonism is NOT Christianity.

I’ve had this kind of discussion with Mormons before and always left feeling very frustrated with the lack of honesty and integrity that Mormons display when it comes to describing what they believe about the Trinity, Heaven, Hell, God, Salvation, and, most importantly, JESUS.

If it were not for my formal training in Mormonism I would not have been able to catch the very subtle but real differences that Mormons hold about Jesus and other Christian doctrines.

During our discussions, each time I would challenge Mormon doctrine on Jesus they would say, “We believe in Jesus and we trust him for our salvation.”

The Bottom Line!  Mormons will not truthfully say what they believe about “Who Jesus is” and how “their” Jesus is different from the Jesus of Christianity.

However, recently while reading an article by Daniel Burke, a writer with the Religion News Service, Robert Miller, a Mormon theologian, was quoted speaking about God and Jesus in a way I’ve never heard a Mormon leader speak.

Robert Miller, Emeritus dean of religious education at Brigham Young, said, “For Latter-Day Saints, God and Man are the same species.  God has substance–he is not a force or power.  God is Exalted, Glorified man…”

Dr. Miller continues, “Mormons believes that God had a celestial wife, to whom Jesus was born…”

Obviously, in Mormon doctrine, Jesus is a step below God on the stairway to heaven and NOT an equal member of the Trinity.

My purpose in writing today is not to debate Christianity and Mormonism.

However, I must report that Richard Mouw, President of Fuller Theological Seminary, said in the Burke article,

The idea of humans becoming gods runs counter to mainstream Christianity.  Confusing the two has traditionally been considered blasphemous.  Traditional Christianity holds that God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit coexist and share one substance.  Mormons deny the doctrine of the trinity and that is huge.

Rather my purpose today is to express my appreciation to Robert Miller for having the integrity to say what Mormons actually believe about Jesus and God and pointing out that Mormonism and Christianity are NOT the SAME. Thank you, Dr. Miller.

I’ve always said when I find a Mormon who tells the truth about these things I will share it.

Maybe NOW we can have significant discussion moving forward.

By the way, I must remind every reader of the Bible’s straightforward admonition. Paul, the Apostle writes,

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel–which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!          Galatians 1:6-9

Final word. On the bases of Holy Scripture, just as Muslims are not Christians but rather Muslims, Mormons are not Christians; they are Mormons.
