It is very sad that Some, Media, Politicians and Pastors CONTINUE TO make a critical mistake in assuming that God and Allah are the Same, Actually they are not!

To gain a proper understanding of this question, ask it like this, “Do Christians and Muslims both have a correct understanding of who God is?” The answer is definitely no.

Because of crucial differences between the Christian and Muslim concepts of God, the two faiths and view of God cannot both be true. The biblical God alone addresses and solves the problem of sin by giving His Son.

Please don’t be deceived. It does Matter what you believe and Teach about this issue.

While the Muslim and Christian views of God have some similarities.  They Most Certainly do not Worship the same God.  Because of crucial differences between the Christian and Muslim concepts of God, the two faiths cannot both be true.

In addition, to how Jesus, God in the Flesh, answers Man’s Sin Problem,  A vital difference between the Islamic and Christian views of God is the biblical concept of the Trinity. (This doctrine also is what distinguishes Christianity from all other World Religions and Cultic groups likes Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, New Ageism and etc).

In the Bible, God has revealed Himself as one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

While each Person of the Trinity is fully God, God is not three gods but three in one. The Trinity is essential to the Christian faith. Without the Trinity, there would be no incarnation of God’s Son in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus Christ, there would be no salvation from sin. Without salvation, sin would condemn all to an eternal hell.

Another very Critical component of this the Question, “Is God and allah the same” is seen when one considers the Mission of God. God’s Mission is stated as follows………. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:16-18)

The god of Islam did not have such a mission.

Dr. Douglas Groothuis, Ph.D.  Professor at Denver Theological Seminary, writes, “Islam claims to be a fulfillment of Christianity, yet it denies many essential Christian teachings.”

A Christian can never retreat from the clear doctrinal position that Jesus is GOD, yet Muhammad the prophet of allah, rejected the idea that Jesus, a human being, could in any sense be God.”

When one thinks critically and logically it becomes clear, the god of Islam and the God of Christianity cannot be same, because God can not possess contradictory attributes.

The New Testament writer, Jude says it plainly, “3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about[b] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

The President of the United States bears MUCH Responsibility.

If President Obama doesn’t want to LEAD, he should at least GET OUT OF THE WAY. His Lackadaisical attitude and lack of initiative has created an environment in which the Thugs and Cowards of this world act without fear of reprisal from the Most Powerful Nation in the world.

President Obama you are weak and you are an embarrassment! For whatever reason you have demonstrated you don’t have the courage or principled Core values to lead the greatest nation in World.

TWENTY ONE Egyptian Coptic Christians were marched, by masked Islamic State militants, to a sandy Beach and forced down to their knees to have their heads cut off.

I am ashamed of our President’s lack of Leadership. Words of condemnation mean nothing, ACTION speaks volumes.

Am I TO BELIEVE  that the Greatest, Most Powerful nation on the face of this planet is unable to locate and KILL 40,000 of the most evil people on the face of this earth?

Am I TO BELIEVE that in a few days, maybe weeks, the Greatest, Most Powerful nation on the face of this planet could not eradicate this world of such vile evil men?

Oh, How I wish, we had someone at the “helm” who had courage, love for freedom and was a principled Godly Man.

President Obama you will be held accountable!  You sought the Presidency, you were given the honor that few will ever realize and by your lack of leadership and vision you are causing the deaths of 1000s that could have been eliminated.

I tell you THIS, these 21 Tortured Christian martyrs are Seeing Jesus today and those who killed them will live forever in a Real and Eternal place called HELL. They will join Mohammad and his prophets and forever feel the torment of fire and gnashing of teeth. I tell you, the ONE, TRUE God will NOT be Mocked, a Storm is Coming.

Mr. President, You have wasted your opportunity. Your day of reckoning will come from the ONE who WILL Judge all men. “…..And to everyone to whom much has been given, much shall be required from him; and to whom [men] have committed much, they will ask from him the more.”   Luke 12

William Barclay and other commentary writers refer to the passage in Luke 2, regarding Jesus, as a boy, in the Temple as “Supremely Important!

Why is the New Testament story about Jesus, at age 12, in the Temple so vitally important?

The answer lies in What the Passage is Teaching us About the Person and Mission of Jesus.

This passage is supremely important because it answers the Vital Question:

Who is JESUS?  This passage is an occasion for Jesus to teach us about HIS Relationship with GOD….

Jesus is God, the Second Person of the TRINITY.

Unfortunately, there is so much inaccurate understanding and false teaching about the Person and Mission of Jesus by cults, world religions, some politicians, many talk show hosts, numerous religious leaders and too many pastors in our own community.

The “Hypostatic Union” is the term Christians use to explain What Makes Christianity different from all other religions (Islam, Hinduism, etc.) and cults (Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, New Ageism, etc.) that exist today.

It is hard to discuss this event in the LIFE OF JESUS as reported in Luke 2:41-49 without referencing the theological term “the hypostatic union.”

The hypostatic union is the term used to describe how God the Son, Jesus Christ, took on a human nature, yet remained fully God at the same time.

The doctrine of the hypostatic union is an attempt to explain how Jesus could be both God and man at the same time. It is ultimately, though, a doctrine we are incapable of fully understanding given it is impossible for humans to fully understand how God works.

What makes Christianity different from cults like Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, etc., and world religions like Islam, Hinduism, etc.?

It is the Teaching that Jesus has always existed (John 8:58,10:30).

Jesus is God’s Son in that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). But that does not mean Jesus did not exist before He was conceived.

Only Christianity Teaches the Truth about Jesus; Jesus and God are One!

This is very important for Christians to understand, since the term, “Hypostatic Union” speaks to how Jesus Limited HIMSELF of certain facets of DIVINE ADVANTAGE in order that HE might have a legitimate experience of temptation and REAL life HUMAN struggles.

You may not understand ‘The Hypostatic Union” but you can UNDERSTAND this….according to the Scripture, on earth JESUS was:

100 % God

100% Human

100 % of the Time.

Don’t be misled; the divine nature of Jesus is not diminished by His human nature, and His human nature does not lose identity because of His divine nature.

Jesus has always been God; Jesus became a human being in order to identify with us in our struggles

(For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human  in every way,  in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins  of the people. Hebrews 2:17 NIV)

and to Die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins

(In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to  his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing  by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8 NIV).

It does matter what you believe about Jesus!  The Luke 2:41-49 passage is important because it is teaching the TRUTH about JESUS, which is IMPORTANT TO OUR SALVATION.

Because Jesus is FULLY GOD and FULLY HUMAN….HE is the Only Way to the FATHER.

The Bible says, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”.  John 1:12

Jesus is both fully human and fully divine, that there is no mixture or dilution of either nature, and that He is one united Person, forever.

Please, let’s not back up on Jesus.  Instead, let us commit to the biblical truth about JESUS; eternity weighs in the balance.

SOME Media, politicians and pastors make a critical mistake in assuming that God and Allah are the Same, Actually they are not! In a September, 2014 interview on 60 Minutes President Obama referred to Muslims as people “who worship a different god.” Even he knows the difference.

To gain a proper understanding of this question, ask it like this, “Do Christians and Muslims both have a correct understanding of who God is?” The answer is definitely no.

I’ve always said when I find a Mormon who tells the truth about these things I will share it.

***********************************

I’ve been in dialogue and discussion with Imam Syed Soharwardy for many months.  We have had numerous phone and email conversations.  (We hope to meet in person soon.)

One thing about Imam Soharwardy that I find helpful to our dialogue and discussion is his honesty when it comes to discussing Christian and Islamic theology.

Syed says he loves Jesus, honors Jesus and respects Jesus; but he is quick to point out that Islam does Not believe that Jesus and God are the same. Thus, Muslims are NOT Christians; they are Muslims.

Jesus and God being ONE is a Christian belief that is clearly taught in the Bible and a doctrine that Christians have been killed and tortured for over the centuries, right up to today.

As Syed and I have discussed theology it is refreshing that he has the integrity to be honest regarding Islam’s beliefs.

I have had very similar discussions with Mormons over the years.  Very recently I met with two Mormon leaders from our community.

They wanted to “discuss” my view that Mormonism is NOT Christianity.

I’ve had this kind of discussion with Mormons before and always left feeling very frustrated with the lack of honesty and integrity that Mormons display when it comes to describing what they believe about the Trinity, Heaven, Hell, God, Salvation, and, most importantly, JESUS.

If it were not for my formal training in Mormonism I would not have been able to catch the very subtle but real differences that Mormons hold about Jesus and other Christian doctrines.

During our discussions, each time I would challenge Mormon doctrine on Jesus they would say, “We believe in Jesus and we trust him for our salvation.”

The Bottom Line!  Mormons will not truthfully say what they believe about “Who Jesus is” and how “their” Jesus is different from the Jesus of Christianity.

However, recently while reading an article by Daniel Burke, a writer with the Religion News Service, Robert Miller, a Mormon theologian, was quoted speaking about God and Jesus in a way I’ve never heard a Mormon leader speak.

Robert Miller, Emeritus dean of religious education at Brigham Young, said, “For Latter-Day Saints, God and Man are the same species.  God has substance–he is not a force or power.  God is Exalted, Glorified man…”

Dr. Miller continues, “Mormons believes that God had a celestial wife, to whom Jesus was born…”

Obviously, in Mormon doctrine, Jesus is a step below God on the stairway to heaven and NOT an equal member of the Trinity.

My purpose in writing today is not to debate Christianity and Mormonism.

However, I must report that Richard Mouw, President of Fuller Theological Seminary, said in the Burke article,

The idea of humans becoming gods runs counter to mainstream Christianity.  Confusing the two has traditionally been considered blasphemous.  Traditional Christianity holds that God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit coexist and share one substance.  Mormons deny the doctrine of the trinity and that is huge.

Rather my purpose today is to express my appreciation to Robert Miller for having the integrity to say what Mormons actually believe about Jesus and God and pointing out that Mormonism and Christianity are NOT the SAME. Thank you, Dr. Miller.

I’ve always said when I find a Mormon who tells the truth about these things I will share it.

Maybe NOW we can have significant discussion moving forward.

By the way, I must remind every reader of the Bible’s straightforward admonition. Paul, the Apostle writes,

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel–which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!          Galatians 1:6-9

Final word. On the bases of Holy Scripture, just as Muslims are not Christians but rather Muslims, Mormons are not Christians; they are Mormons.

Fox News reported that some churches were considering again opening up their facilities to Muslims for their worship of Allah.

****************

Several months ago, I responded to an article in our paper regarding Christians “building bridges” with Muslims and other cultic groups.

My point remains now, as then, that–more than building bridges–the important thing is to tell the truth.

Some surmised that telling the truth and extending grace to Muslims and other cultic groups were mutually exclusive.  The error of this thinking was seen in two distinction illustrations.

One example was seen in a group’s decision to burn copies of the Koran.   I spoke out at such non-sense and utter hatefulness.

The other example of wrongful thinking was the idea of Protestant churches renting or loaning out their facilities to Muslims groups while their mosques were being completed.  Heartsong Church near Memphis reportedly allowed members of the Memphis Islamic Center to hold Ramadan prayers in its building last September, and Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Virginia currently allows the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) to hold regular Friday prayers in its facility while their new mosque is under construction.
I spoke out against such ill-informed benevolence.

I said then and I say again, neither of these ideas sounds at all like Jesus!

Fast forward to just a few weeks ago.  Fox News reported that some churches were considering again opening up their facilities to Muslims for their worship of Allah.

This kind of thinking and reasoning is not Christian love; it is completely against everything the Bible teaches.

First, God’s house should NOT be used by those who do not acknowledge the Truth about Jesus.

Alan Wisdom of The Institute on Religion & Democracy is spot on when he says, “Worship is a sacred thing. We dedicate our sanctuaries to the worship of Jesus Christ. It is not appropriate in a space that’s dedicated to the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ to have prayers said based on the false prophecy of Mohammad.”

Second, the Christ-like thing would be an attempt to minister to Muslims and point them to the only source of eternal life, Jesus Christ–God in the Flesh.  This is possible thru many different avenues, without having to defame a worship chapel with religious practices that are non-Christian. Islam worships a false god, written about in a false book, founded by a false prophet.

Zeal for God’s righteousness (Truth) consumed Jesus, and He was not afraid to stand up against those who opposed and dishonored His Father.

While engaging in hateful and hurtful actions toward any cultic group, i.e. Muslims, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and others, is not of Christ neither is loaning a Christian worship center to a Muslim congregation to worship their false god (ALLAH).

Christians must realize that our task is first to tell the Truth.

The Christian Truth is that the only way to know God and be forgiven of sin and to experience eternal life in heaven is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior.  The Bible says, “Salvation is found in no one else {save Jesus}, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”  Keep in mind this is not narrow thinking; Jesus is the only way for everyone in the world.

It is shameful that some who call themselves Christian ministers don’t have the courage to stand for the Word of God and are so ready to compromise the truth of Christianity in order to avoid social rejection.  How so very weak! How so very unlike Jesus!

A few days after Thanksgiving,  I mailed a letter to 14 Local Islamic Religious Leaders. (see  “A Letter Mailed to 14 Islamic Religious Leaders”) at  https://tomsmiley.wordpress.com/    or  www.lifewithsmiles.com  (click on “Blog” tab).

I asked that they join me in denouncing the killing of over 50 Christian worshippers attending Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad in late October 2010.

I’ve STILL received No Response from ANY OF THEM…….. However, By way of additional “blogs”, I have received ONE Contact from a Muslim Imam regarding my views and opinions about his faith.

Here is my Reply to him.

Imam   (name is omitted until confirmed)

I have read and re-read your article from the paper which you sent with your last email.

You should Know that I wrote a letter to 14 Islamic Leaders in my  Region, North GA, of  USA, asking them to join me in denouncing Violence against Christians and Jews in Middle Eastern Countries in the Name of Islam.

It was a Simple Request.   I am very willing to denounce violence against Muslims BY Christians  and I am Quick to point out  those who are Distorting Christian Views.

I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE From any of these men.  How very Sad and Shameful.

You on the other hand, appear to have written a very good article about the topic which I was addressing.  I would very much like to speak with you or visit with you in person about your views expressed in that paper.

If I read your article correctly and you do renounce Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Qaeda for their violence against Muslims, Jews and Christians, I offer you, sir, my compliment.

It is the right thing that WE BOTH stand against the shameful and cowardly violence propagated upon other humans beings in name of any religion.

My Issue which you did not address is that of  the Billions of Muslims that are said to agree with us, YOU are the only ONE who I’ve heard speak in such a fashion and I’ve heard none of the Islamic Leaders speak as you do who actually live in the Middle East.

The Islamic faith seems to me to have a real need for someone to Stand Up and speak out more clearly in denouncing those who are Killing in the name of your faith.  Why the Silence by your leaders?

I think we BOTH understand that Islam and Christianity have very different Views on Truth, Jesus Christ, God, Holy Scriptures, Heaven and Hell.  We don’t even worship the same god.

In addition, you should know, that while I could never comprise the truth that Holy Scriptures teach about who Jesus Christ is or  how a person comes to enjoy the promise of Eternal life,  I do believe that People should be free to pursue Faith Matters and Seek out the ONE TRUE GOD in Peace, without fear of violence.

My testimony to you is that Jesus Christ, God in the Flesh, is the One True God.

Even though you disagree, I am still willing to recognize you as  a creation of God, made in God’s Image and I pray that you will come to know the Truth about the Love that God has for you and the sacrifice HE made for you to live with HIM forever and enjoy truly abundant life today.

I do so very much hope that you are man of influence and integrity and will use your position to challenge the followers of your faith to stand up and speak out against those who you say are distorting the true views of Islam.

I would very much like for us to visit in person or via phone.

The biggest problem with Mormonism is that it contradicts, modifies, and expands on the Bible.

Christians have no reason to believe that the Bible is not true and adequate.

Yet, Mormons believe that there are four sources of divinely inspired words, not just one:

1) The Bible “as far as it is translated correctly.” Which verses are considered incorrectly translated is not always made clear. 2) The Book of Mormon, which was “translated” by Smith and published in 1830.  3) The Doctrine and Covenants, containing a collection of modern revelations regarding the “Church of Jesus Christ as it has been restored.” 4) The Pearl of the Great Price, which is considered by Mormons to “clarify” doctrines and teachings that were lost from the Bible and adds its own information about the earth’s creation.

Mormons believe the following about God:

He has not always been the Supreme Being of the universe, but attained that status through righteous living and persistent effort.

In contrast, Christians know this about God:

there is only one true God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10; 44:6-8),

He always has existed and always will exist (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 90:2; 1 Timothy 1:17), and He was not created but is the Creator (Genesis 1; Psalm 24:1; Isaiah 37:16).

He is perfect, and no one else is equal to Him (Psalm 86:8; Isaiah 40:25).

Mormons believe that there are different levels or kingdoms in the afterlife: the celestial kingdom, the terrestrial kingdom, the telestial kingdom, and outer darkness.

In contrast, the Bible tells us that after death, we go to heaven or hell based on whether or not we had faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Unbelievers are sent to hell or the place of the dead (Luke 16:22-23). There is no second chance for redemption after death (Hebrews 9:27).

Mormon leaders have taught that Jesus’ incarnation was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary.

Mormons believe Jesus is a god, but that any human can also become a god.

Mormonism teaches that salvation can be earned by a combination of faith and good works.

Contrary to this, Christians have taught that no one can achieve the status of God—only He is holy (1 Samuel 2:2).

Jesus and God are one in essence, Jesus being the only One existing before physical birth (John 1:1-8; 8:56). Jesus gave Himself to us as a sacrifice, God raised Him from the dead, and one day everyone will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:6-11).

Clearly, there is only one way to receive salvation and that is to know God and His Son, Jesus (John 17:3). It is not done by works, but by faith (Romans 1:17; 3:28). “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Although Mormons are usually friendly, loving, and kind people, they are deceived by a false religion that distorts the nature of God, the Person of Jesus Christ, and the means of salvation.

I just can’t get my mind off our President’s comments on Sunday while he was traveling abroad.

He asserted in one of his speeches that Islam embodied a religion of peace, fairness and tolerance.  He said that a “few extremists” are distorting the true religion of this great world faith.  He said there are more than one billion people who practice Islam and affirm the peaceful, fair and tolerant values of Islam.

I just cannot abide this unfounded, untruthful nonsense any longer.

His words are bad enough in that they are ill-informed, but more than that, they demonstrate that our leader, charged with our individual and national protection, just doesn’t get it!

Please, “Islam; a religion of peace, fairness and tolerance?”  Mr. President, you could say a lot about Islam that might be accurate, but this exceeds the bounds of accurate analysis.

If it is truth that Islam has been distorted by a “few extremists”, then where are the billions of adherents who are peaceful, fair and tolerant?

The last time I checked, Muslim “extremists” are not running every Middle Eastern country.  So I’m to accept that those countries exercise fairness and tolerance to other faiths?

If that is so, I think I’ll start collecting money and supplies and venture over to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, maybe Lebanon and start a new church.  We’ll call it, “The Bible Church.” Or maybe I’ll take a Jewish friend and start a Messianic Jewish synagogue as well.

Seriously, how far would I get? Islam is a peaceful, tolerant and fair faith?   Please!

Personally, I’ll never accept that Islam is a peaceful, fair, tolerant religion until I hear one of those billion faithful call a radio talk show or be a guest on a television news show and denounce the  “few extremists who are distorting Islam” as the cowards and evil men that they are and who know nothing of true Islamic values.

As a Christ follower, I’ve publicly denounced Jim Jones, Timothy McVeigh, David Koresh and those like them as evil, false teachers who knew nothing of Christ’s love and kingdom.

I’m waiting for some of the “billion” peaceful, fair and tolerant Muslims to call “out” those who are distorting Islam.  I wonder how long, Mr. President, will it will take?
